We are searching for a Content Designer to join our team in the heart of downtown Chicago, IL.
The Content Designer will create innovative multimedia programs that help people make sense of complicated medical information and decisions. The programs are prescribed by doctors, hospitals, and healthcare plans with the goals of giving people a better sense of what to expect, helping them feel more confident, improving communication with their healthcare team, and helping them feel less stressed and overwhelmed.
The Content Designer will have a passion for teaching people about health in plain, conversational language. They are able to research, understand, and translate complex medical information, and importantly, they are able to explore and empathize with patient concerns. In addition to being a strong writer with demonstrated attention to detail, the Content Designer will collaborate with teams of artists, designers, medical advisors, and others, and must be able to work on multiple projects and with a variety of technology tools.

Help keep our current program library up-to-date
Research, develop, and write multimedia health programs
Work with external clinical advisors, patients, and clients to ensure programs are meeting patient needs while being clinically accurate and addressing client goals
Collaborate with the Editorial Director, artists, product management team, and fellow content designers to edit scripts for flow, voice, health literacy, accuracy, and understanding
Direct voice talent to obtain appropriate delivery, tone, and quality of recordings
Think visually and collaborate with medical illustrators to make scripts work with high-impact visuals
Use an assortment of tools and programs to generate multimedia content and edit audio files
Communicate program progress and timelines and help keep projects on track
Lead and participate in discussions about program design, health communication best practices, behavioral science, and new ways of engaging patients in their health
BA/BS degree in English/writing, instructional design, communications, journalism, a health-related field such as public health or nursing, etc. or equivalent experience
MA, MPH or other Master's degree optional but preferred
Preferably 1-2 years relevant experience writing for:
Experience in Healthcare IT industry desirable
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
Excellent time management, decision making, and organization skills
Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
Ability to manage projects involving cross-functional teams

Imagine you're writing a multimedia program for someone who's just been diagnosed with COPD. Included in the program will be an explanation of how COPD affects the lungs. Write a short description (about 300-500 words) of how healthy lungs work and what happens to this process when you have COPD.
Use an engaging, conversational voice.
Think visually and how the narration would work with the art/animation (although you don't need to describe the animation).
Write for a low health literacy audience
