The Senior Software Engineer - Technical Support SWAT, is responsible for providing SWAT and Dev-Ops level technical troubleshooting, patch development, deployment support, and performance tuning for ELM Solutions' products and operations. This may involve research, analysis, data and requirements gathering, documenting proposed solutions, solution verification/validation, and other tasks as necessary to resolve escalated priority issues. This position may also involve development with various programming languages such as .Net, Java, SQL and Groovy. This individual is expected to develop a deep technical understanding of ELM Solutions technologies, will frequently work with underlying data at the database level, and will be required to analyze programming code to identify defects and develop fixes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions: * Provide technical leadership and direction to software development staff, perform code reviews for other software developers * Participate in peer review sessions, root cause analysis sessions and swarming activities. * Responsible for the understanding and application of the organization's processes, procedures, design and coding standards * Provide technical solutions and guidance throughout the support cycle for both the external and internal teams * Coordinate with the client's application team to identify and mitigate any technical issues that may potentially impact the production and supporting environments * Refine effective support processes for continuous improvement * Implement departmental initiatives as lead technical resources * Mentor more junior or 3rd party contract resources in best practices * Work directly with clients (internal and external) to resolve issues with the Company's proprietary software products and services * Recreate and verify complex performance and environmental issues with limited access to the production environment * Analyze product design and implementations to identify and submit defects or change orders * Devise client workarounds/temporary solutions as necessary * Coordinate the sharing of technical information related to resolving complex issues with offshore and nearshore development teams * Test deliverables to ensure resolution meets customer requirements and quality standards * Develop updates to code, data scripts, or configurations to resolve defects and enhancement requests * Record and manage issues within the Agile Kanban process Additional Responsibilities: * Consult with clients to define, recommend, and document appropriate product and solution requirements * Maintain knowledge of best practices in corporate legal environments * Assist in the identification and definition of new product opportunities and enhancements * Participate as part of an Agile Kanban team * Codify frequent issues into documented or scripted processes * Create knowledgebase articles, technical notes and how-to documents * Identify repeatable processes for troubleshooting specific issues * Other duties and projects as assigned by management
Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or related equivalent relevant experience
Technology Specific Development certifications a plus
Technical or Support service certifications a plus
Minimum 3 years of experience implementing or supporting technology solutions, preferably in corporate legal departments
Professional consulting experience is a plus
3 Years Development Experience with SQL Server and SQL syntax
3 Years Development Experience with .Net or Java.
Experience managing external clients
Business intelligence experience with Business Objects or Cognos a plus
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Knowledge of Corporate Legal Departments a plus
Strong experience with server-side web scripting skills in Groovy, ASP.NET, JSP, Angular
Strong experience with object-oriented concepts and best practices
Experience with managing and configuring IIS, Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server
Strong understanding of Internet protocols and security, basic hardware, and HTTPS communication, basic networking including proxy, reverse proxy and firewall configurations.
Strong experience with SQL databases and database management practices
Able to work well under pressure and time constraints
An aptitude for excellent customer service with a focus on total quality management
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical, trouble-shooting and detail-oriented skills
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work with virtual teams
Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skill and the capacity to think creatively under pressure
Experience with network packet analysis tool such as Wireshark, HTTP proxy tool such as Fiddler is a plus
Experience in using source control tool such as TFS, SVN , GIT is a plus
Experience with Automation tools such as Jenkins, Octopus and TeamCity a plus
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud systems a plus
Experience with JIRA a plus
Must be flexible to changing software architectures.
