The Solution Software Architect is a senior member of the Architecture team. Ability to take high level requirements and distill them into application architecture and ensure that this architecture is in alignment with the enterprise architecture. Constantly prototyping new technologies and formulating strategies ensuring that this aligns with the enterprise architecture vision. Ability to collaborate with other architecture disciplines (data, infrastructure etc) to help formulate the enterprise architecture vision. Responsible to generate the initial application architecture and ensures that the development teams adhere to the architecture. Each Software Architect is assigned to two to four application development streams simultaneously.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Rigorous design methodology that consistently yields the right level of technical design documentation and develop technical solutions that conform both to customer requirements and software development standards

  • Work with application development teams to evangelize and implement the desired architecture with optimal design/delivery

  • Review, cost and design optimized software designs based on rigorous understanding of costs and returns

  • Address software reusability

  • Collaborate with other architecture disciplines (data, infrastructure, etc.) to build the enterprise architecture vision

  • Participate in the evaluation/implementation of third party software solutions. Hands-on development may be required to demonstrate component selection and prototyping

  • Utilize understanding of industry software trends to innovate and provide new project/product ideas within the investment lifecycle

  • Participate in governance mechanisms, such as the Architecture Review Board, and ensure that deliveries meet governance standards

  • When necessary participate with the development teams to develop components / services which are architecturally significant

  • Coach, mentor and inspire application development teams on architecture best practices and key software concepts

  • Provide thought leadership to teams when onboarding new technologies

  • Ensure that expected application quality attribute levels are achieved

  • Review and influence the development of WK LS software architecture framework and platform services

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives

  • Evangelize automation in all aspects of software development

  • Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Strong relationship development with all primary and secondary stakeholders


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS, or related field OR equivalent years of professional experience

Minimum Experience:

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a technology-based position, with at least five years leading increasingly complex and challenging software development projects, and have experience with SaaS and SOA for both front and backend systems, and at least 2 years in a software architect role.

Proven track record of participating in software architecture and design in projects. Must have strong communication skills and be a good evangelist of architecture concepts.

The successful applicant will be required to pass a background check and substance abuse screening.

Other Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with SaaS and web-based technologies - Agile methodology

  • Significant experience with SOA or microservice architectures

  • Minimum of 10 years dedicated development in Microsoft languages (.NET/C#)

  • Minimum of 5 years as lead/senior developer of medium to large scale projects

  • Minimum of 2 years as a software architect in a medium to large scale project

  • Skilled with object-oriented analysis and design (OOA&D) methodology and micro-services

  • Skilled with architecture/design patterns and re-usability concepts

  • Skilled in SOLID design principles and TDD

  • Very familiar in web authentication and authorization technologies. (SSO, Federated, OAuth2, SAML2 etc)

  • Very familiar with application security via OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities list, and mitigation strategies

  • Familiar in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployments

  • Familiar with database design and object/relational database technology

  • Familiar with process improvement initiatives and change management

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical, detailed, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills

  • A willingness to directly execute tasks and manage projects

  • Ability to manage resources that functionally report elsewhere

  • Highly developed communication skills, both internal and external

  • Customer focused

  • Highly organized and productive, requiring little supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, on time, and on budget

  • Experience with data management, analytics and reporting applications is a plus

  • IASA, TOGAF, or other architecture methodology certifications are a plus
