The Senior Clinical Content Specialist will help drive the improvement of our clinical decision support systems. Requirements include supporting and directing content editors to facilitate optimal use of medical terminology concepts in our drug-condition interaction database, drug indications database and our internal medical terminology database and its associated hierarchy. Participation in the development of strategies to improve the content within these embedded clinical systems to enhance alert specificity and sensitivity will be required. The role will include participation in the development of new or improved clinical decision support systems, assist in the conceptualization and evaluation of advanced clinical decision support opportunities and may involve exploring new technologies, such as adoption of machine learning and natural language processing to drive new solutions.
The Specialist will participate in medical terminology assessments and support any related needs of clinical decision support products. Terminology responsibilities include the creation and support of mapping files from new and existing standardized medical vocabularies to proprietary Wolters Kluwer Medical Condition Codes and patient education leaflets. The role may include surveillance for new or updated versions of supported vocabularies plus cross-departmental planning and coordination to support any related changes. The routine assessment of data (using database queries and spreadsheets), including evaluation of a clinical concept's meaning and how it relates to other concepts, is frequently required. Other responsibilities include addressing customer questions, resolving issues as they arise and regular quality assessments to both optimize and improve the consistency of concept mappings across code sets. Therefore, strong technical and data management skills, as well as extensive medical informatics and clinical knowledge are all necessary to be successful
The position will involve evaluating aspects of workflow and process improvement to drive efficiency, improve quality and facilitate content development. It may also require cross-department collaboration related to editorial platform development. Maintenance and creation of process and policy documents as needed is also required.
