The ideal candidate for this role must be comfortable working within an Agile Scrum team on both manual and automated tasks. Automation spans both functional UI as well as Service Layer/API testing in an enterprise setting. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for at least one major project and possibly multiple minor projects. This candidate will be expected to have the technical expertise as well as the necessary people skills to effectively accomplish the testing process in a 'hands on' capacity.
You will be a vital component for instilling testing disciplines at Health LRP as we strive to optimize the testing efforts required to build, verify, release and maintain a variety of highly profitable software products and services that were built on multiple technology platforms over the years. In addition to this, you will be a critical component for helping us to scale our testing capabilities for the products we are driving and governing.
To achieve these objectives, you will need to work closely with both the onsite and offshore teams present within LRP and MUST have strong communication skills to be able to interact effectively with a variety of culturally diverse teams.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Quality Engineering responsibilities include working within the assigned SCRUM/Delivery team to implement test automation solutions and other established testing processes. This is a hands-on position that involves the following:
Working closely with the Test Architect to implement existing framework standards and best practices for automated testing.
Being accountable and responsible for driving all testing activities that are required to certify all applications and services that are supported by the Delivery teams. This includes manual test creation, planning, execution and reporting.
Implement and maintain functional UI as well as Service Layer Test Beds for supported products.
Participating or collaborating with SCRUM team, QE Architect, QE Manager as well as Build and Release Management to create useful testing artifacts for the team(s).
Ability to easily convey pertinent information to the SCRUM teams both oral and written.
Generate and Distribute reports that contain Key Software Quality Test Metrics that illustrate the state of assigned projects.
Build Technical QE expertise within the team
Assist other groups with implementing QE best practices if required.
Being an Advocate for QE
By representing QE effectively regarding quality and best practices within our Agile teams and throughout the organization.
With the development team by providing feedback that allows our applications to be easier to automate.
With Business and Product teams by active contribution in planning meetings and being able to demonstrate the value of quality engineering and any applicable testing activities for their products.
Implementing strategies developed by the QE Architect and the automation team.
Proactively and consistently communicate task status.
Involve appropriate constituencies in making key project decisions where applicable.
Collaborate with project management, development, business owner(s), and other stakeholders in the implementation of project deliverables.
Communicate risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies to appropriate stakeholders and escalate if necessary to ensure the project's success.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a technically oriented field, preferably in Computer Science.
Required: Three years of relevant experience
A minimum of 1, preferably 3 years' experience in the use and extension of automated test tools and technology using Selenium.
A minimum of 2 years' experience with Service Layer Tools and Technologies such as RESTful and/or SOAP etc. SoapUI/ReadyAPI or Apache JMeter.
Minimum 3 years working in an AGILE or Dynamic testing environment required.
A minimum of 1 preferably 3 years' experience with at least one scripting language such as Java Script, Python, Ruby on Rails, etc.
A minimum of 2 years' experience utilizing Relational Databases e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.
Therefore proficient in creating complex SQL statements, including stored procedures, triggers, views, profiling and data mining.
A minimum of 1 years of experience with software code version control systems e.g. TFS, VSS, SVN, Rational Clear Case, GIT, etc.
2 years of experience with manual testing and test automation for medium to large scale environments while strongly prefer, consumer-oriented web applications experience
A minimum of 2 years' experience with the major testing categories e.g. White-Box, Grey Box, Black Box, etc.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in reviewing product specifications and developing test cases based on those requirements.
CI/CD experience around incorporating SL tests into a Jenkins pipeline preferred.
2 years of development experience with at least one of the major programming languages e.g. .NET, Java and strongly preferring expertise in C# if possible.
