Reporting into Wolters Kluwer UpToDate's Integrated Products team, you will play a role in delivering innovation products to enable forward-thinking, high-impact information services to support our business. The Senior Full Stack Developer will assume responsibility for developing SaaS-based Healthcare products integrated into the clinician's workflow. Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Working with the Director of Platform Engineering and architects, investigate technologies and implement proofs of concept to inform the emerging product and platform architecture.

  • Maintain, enhance, and extend UpToDate's customer-facing clinical decision support applications.

  • Devise best practices and patterns for reliable, efficient, and scalable web applications.

  • Plan and execute tasks within an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Remain current with evolving industry trends and technologies.

  • Follow best practices and standards for coding.

  • Work within a DevOps culture to consider the scalability, performance, and deployment needs of the applications and the services on which they rely.

  • Work closely with software test engineers to develop deep and thorough test coverage.

Job Qualifications

Education: BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 8+ years of software development experience are required, with 2+ years' experience at a senior engineer level are required.

  • Deep experience in developing for modularized server-side solutions structured around NodeJS and microservices

  • Deep experience in writing clean, maintainable code, following best practices and established design patterns

  • Experience with web-scale commercial offerings, distributed systems and scaling highly desired

  • Experience with multiple server-side Java development technologies and tools such as servlets, Spring, Jersey, JDBC, MyBatis, JMS, ActiveMQ, Apache web server, Tomcat is a plus

  • Experience with web service API design, REST principles, XML, and JSON.

  • Experience with SOA or microservices architectures is a plus

  • Experience with public cloud environments (AWS, Azure) is a plus

  • Experience with agile development process is a plus

  • Experience with automated unit and integration testing

  • Experience with SDLC tools like GIT, IntelliJ, Maven, NPM

  • Experience using HTML/CSS/JavaScript to implement modular, high performance, and functional user interfaces

  • Experience working with modern web UI frameworks such as AngularJS, Backbone, jQuery, Bootstrap

  • Working knowledge of Healthcare solutions, familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements is desired

  • Working knowledge of SQL and familiarity with database technologies including NoSQL is desired

  • Working knowledge Atlassian tools such as Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence is desired

  • Working knowledge of TypeScript is desired

  • Working knowledge of authentication / authorization technologies such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect is desired.

  • Understanding of healthcare data interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, CDA, CCD a plus.
