Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting is looking for a Development Engineer to work out of our Wichita, Kansas office.

As an Applications Developer II/Development Engineer for Wolters Kluwer (WK) Tax and Accounting (TAA), you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of software applications and modules using Agile software development methodologies.
You will play a hands-on role to develop these quality applications within the desired budgets and timeframes. Your responsibilities include the design and prototyping activities; driving application development through Agile software development methodologies; supporting the implementation of assigned projects; providing level 2 and level 3 support for software issues; participating in organizational activities to meet or exceed company objectives; and representing Wolters Kluwer within the industry.
Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Design and prototyping activities by working with internal teams and clients to distill user stories; reviewing user stories to identify key functionalities and develop functional design specifications;; documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing flowcharts, layouts, diagrams and charts; and developing proof of concept prototypes for illustration of business buy-in demonstration.
Drives application development through Agile software development methodologies by helping to plan, prioritize, and schedule development tasks; performing coding activities (using Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principals); participating code reviews and unit testing; attending daily "stand-up" team meetings to track commitments and discuss status (e.g., what was accomplished yesterday, what will be accomplished today, what is blocking achievement of daily goals); removing or escalating obstacles; investigating problem areas within the application and implementing fixes; participating in pre-planning process of the next iteration cycle to assess status and discuss project plans; participating in the planning session of the next iteration cycle to present assignments and goals to the team; and maturing the Agile development methodology through focus on lean principles and teaching opportunities with other team members.
Supports the implementation of assigned projects by contributing to development of implementation plans; responding to customer questions or issues throughout the process; participating in post implementation debugging efforts; participating in client hand-off and closing efforts; and ensuring the implementation of high quality software within budget and on-time.
Provides level 2 and level 3 support for software issues by receiving issue escalations from the internal sources (e.g., Product Support, QA); reviewing and analyzing escalated issues; resolving customer issues regarding software (or associated modules) in their work environment; collecting detailed information for issues requiring system analysis or modification (e.g., bugs, defects, enhancements); developing a work around or patch for system issues; contributing to the prioritization of defects being addressed by Software Engineering and QA; providing status updates to internal teams and clients for assigned cases; documenting all support interaction in accordance with company standards; and contributing to the collection and documentation of material used to improve issue resolution rate.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
3 years of software development experience, including:
Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principals.
SQL Server database skills (e.g., simple queries, store procedures, triggers, LINQ, Entity Framework).
Master's Degree in Information Technology.
Demonstrating troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Collaborating with multiple internal teams and management.
Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication.
WPF, WF experience
Working in software as a service, cloud/SaaS
Demonstrated advanced SQL Server database skills.
Agile development methodologies (or similar).
